In an effort to expand their fleet, TriMet purchased a 35-acre parcel on North Columbia Boulevard in Northeast Portland. This became home to their fourth bus base facility, which will include a new Maintenance Facility, Operations Building, and Wash and Fuel Buildings, as well as a Stores Facility. The first phase involves the refurbishment of an existing building that will be put into immediate use. Once occupied, the next phase will begin, consisting of large-scale site work and a building demolition package—all while maintaining ongoing operations. The final phase will involve constructing new buildings and potentially refurbishing a few others, completing the transformation of the site into TriMet’s fourth fully operational bus facility in the Portland metropolitan area.
