Hermiston School District 2019 Pre-Bond and Bond Program

Hermiston School District 2019 Pre-Bond and Bond Program

Pre-Bond Services

Hermiston School District reached out to Wenaha Group to assist with the pre-bond process after an internally driven effort resulted in an unsuccessful attempt. To begin, our team met with the School Board to clarify the goals and objectives of the bond program. We then worked with the District to bring the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee back together and revisit some of the prior bond discussion items with a firm focus on the Board’s goals and objectives of increasing elementary student capacity, increasing high school CTE capacity, and strengthening community partnerships. The result was a successful bond passage for a $92 million project budget with broad community support for two new prototype elementary schools, an addition of CTE classroom space at the high school, and a softball facility along with district-wide upgrades.

Project Management Services

Wenaha Group has had nearly continuous involvement with the Hermiston School District since the passage of the District’s 2008 bond. Our team is currently supporting the District on the $92 million 2019 capital improvement program, including two new 66,000 SF prototype elementary schools, the demolition of an existing elementary school, a standalone High School Annex classroom building, a new High School softball facility, and various district-wide upgrades. Much of the work has occurred within occupied school sites and required meticulous planning and communication. In addition to providing construction management services, Wenaha Group is responsible for coordinating the furniture, fixture, and equipment design, procurement, and installation. All the elementary school projects in Hermiston include a prototype gym designed to facilitate community use.
